When firefighter Bill Lindler of Hanahan, SC pulled a 3-week-old puppy from a burning house, he didn’t know if the little guy would make it. The puppy, Jake, had burns on 50 to 75 percent of his body. Bill knew that the puppy would need a good, loving home in order to stand a chance at survival, so he adopted him. But he had to tend to Jake’s medical needs throughout the day, so he started bringing him to the firehouse. Jake ended up capturing the hearts of the whole fire department, and soon no one could imagine the firehouse without him. The mayor of their town made Jake an honorary firefighter, and he continues to boost the morale of the fire station every single day.
