10 Ways to Get Rid of Your Bad MoodNone None
There are times when you can benefit from real, science-based strategies for fighting off negative thoughts. Other times, you simply need a dash of whimsical, imaginative solutions, like these quirky yet poignant ink drawings excerpted from artist Yumi Sakugawa's new book, There is No Right Way to Meditate.
"The most liberating discovery of my mindfulness practice is the concept that you are not your thoughts, but the space between your thoughts," Sakugawa told Happify. "So a bad mood is not a reflection of who you are as a person, but something that can be observed objectively and mindfully from a distance, like storm clouds in the distance or a flurry of birds in flight. Most listicles about becoming happy all start sounding the same after a while, so I wanted to create a list about improving your mood but with a more surreal, playful tone that also empowers the reader to manipulate and control a negative emotional state of mind in a tangible and proactive way. Sometimes the best way to come to terms with a bad mood is to laugh at its absurd logic."
We guarantee that Sakugawa's playful illustrations alone are enough to give you an instant mood lift.
