How Art and Color Have the Power to Revitalize Entire Communities
When filmmakers Dre Urhahn and Jeroen Koolhaas began filming their documentary in the downtrodden favelas of Rio, they could never have imagined what they were getting into. On the last day of filming, they came up with an idea to bring color and beauty right back into the center of this struggling neighborhood by painting and plastering the unfinished houses. They even proceeded to paint a large mural over some concrete that ran through the area. The idea spread into a larger community effort, and their work has now inspired other cities to follow in their footsteps.
