A Bookmobile Gives a Migrant Laborer the Courage to Escape Her Unhappy Childhood
Growing up in the 1960s, Storm Reyes lived and worked in Washington State migrant labor camps. In this beautifully illustrated video, she shares stories about her tough childhood, and remembers the day a bookmobile arrived. While at first apprehensive, she quickly became an avid reader and discovered there was a world beyond her unhappy migrant camp. Books gave her the knowledge and courage to realize she wasn’t trapped, and could escape to a better life. Now a librarian, Storm’s story is a touching message of hope.
