How One Woman Found Hope in Hopelessness
When Peta Murchison’s seemingly healthy daughter, Mia, was three, she was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative genetic disease called Batten’s Disease. Sadly, the disease is terminal and Mia most likely will not live beyond high school. Although Mia is in a wheelchair and cannot see or eat, she goes to school, has friends, loves the water, and enjoys snuggles. Peta says, “giving up the fight for her life has been replaced with giving her the best life.” Peta started Bounce4Batten, an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness of the disease, which are imperative for finding a cure. Peta says the journey has helped her see how vivid and beautiful life is.
