Instead of Fighting Your Cravings, Make Peace with Them
Psychologist and researcher Jonathon Bricker has developed an approach to behavior change that is twice as effective as many current methods. Most behavior change methods involve willpower and avoiding our cravings; but Bricker says we should feel those cravings. Listening to what our body is telling us will help us overcome its urges much better than simply saying, “Stop it! Turn those feelings off!” In this TED Talk, he explains how the secret to self-control is the willingness to accept the emotions behind our cravings and addictions.
