Meet the WWII Fighter Pilot Who Now Leads a Seniors-Only Scooter Club
During WWII, Mel Hays was a fighter pilot with a skill for reading maps. These days, at age 97, he’s just fine piloting his scooter along walking trails around retirement community as he leads his Scooter Club on weekly rides. It all started when he realized many of his neighbors were not able to get out much, as they get easily disoriented. So, Mel mapped out some scooting routes and formed the Laurel Parc Scooter Club to give other seniors the opportunity to get outside on a regular basis. He shares their story in this heart-warming video.
