When Sakugawa was 23 years old and feeling suffocated by her depression, she discovered mindfulness—and had the life-changing realization, "I am not my thoughts—but rather, the space in between my thoughts." With that, she embarked on a practice and started bringing to life, through her ink drawings, honest and funny truths about how we feel, how we think, and our continual struggle with just "being."
