Each Year, the People in This City Stand Still in Honor of Those Who Came Before Them
Each year on August 1st, the people of Warsaw, Poland pay tribute to the fallen heroes who fought during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, when 200,000 people died fighting against German Nazi occupation. The Uprising was the single greatest rebellion against the Nazis, and resulted in the destruction of the entire city. For one minute, Warsaw residents stand silent and still in order to remember those fallen heroes. It's a beautiful sight to behold.
