She Hosts Bi-Monthly Meals to Bring Together New Immigrants and Americans
As a Black, Muslim refugee from Somalia, Hudda Ibrahim was prepared to answer lots of questions from her new neighbors in Minnesota about her culture and customs. But she soon realized that most people were so afraid of inadvertently causing offense that they seldom reached out to ask. So Hudda created Dine & Dialogue, a bi-monthly meeting that brings together Somali immigrants and longtime residents over a meal. At the events, questions are asked and answered, and compassionate conversations flow. Dine & Dialogue has been a hit, fostering new friendships and powerful connections in her new community.
