She’s Bringing Refugees and the Public Together with Home-Cooked Cuisine
Refugees coming to a new land are thrown into a new culture, new language, and new way of life. One thing that can stay the same? The food they eat—if they’re able to find the right cooking tools and ingredients, that is. When Miry Atar heard of their struggles, she started Miry’s list, which helps strangers, friends, and residents buy refugees the supplies they need to cook food from their homes. It’s a little bit of home that makes for a happy stomach and mind, even while in a foreign land. Now? The community actually has outdoor group suppers that lets refugees make and share their native foods—while letting the public taste unique, home-cooked cuisine!
