They’re Opening their Homes and Hearts to Former Incarcerated People in Need of a Fresh Start
At age 18, Jesse Vasquez was in prison serving two life sentences. Now, at the age of 36 and recently released after his sentence was commuted, Jesse has been given the opportunity to turn the page and start over. But, having spent half his life behind bars, Jesse had no place to live, and no real community to call home. Enter the Homecoming Project, which pairs recently released prisoners with people willing to give them a place to stay and a chance to turn their lives around. Jesse was paired with, Candi Thorton, a dedicated community activist. In this inspiring video, Jesse and Candi share their story and how this noble project is allowing the formerly incarcerated to step into a new life.
