Japanese freediver Sayuri Kinoshita just set a new world record: 97 meters in the free immersion category! She dives part of the way down a rope, and then is pulled (immersed) the rest of the time until she reaches her goal post and turns to bring herself up. For just shy of four minutes, she held her breath, exerted effort, and combatted water pressure that heavily contracted her gasping lungs. Such an accomplished diver like Kinoshita accomplishes such feats only with a calm mindset and zoned-in concentration. Amazing!
