This Man is Rejuvenating Trashed Beaches in India
Afroz Shah grew up in Mumbai and played on the beach as a young boy. Decades later, that same beach was covered in trash—trash that was filling up the ocean, killing animals, and ruining the water. Dismayed, he decided to take matters into his own hands and clean the waterways. A few years later, and with the help of many local volunteers, around 20 million pounds of garbage have been picked up from the beach—and a swath of sand that was once covered in trash is now ready to be enjoyed.
