When His Dad Is Diagnosed with Dementia, He Connects with Him Through Music
Six years ago, Kenneth Keene was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia. Despite the ill-effects of dementia, his son, Ken Jr., began connecting with him through music. Caregiving for his father opened Ken Jr.’s eyes up to just how important their relationship is. He started changing the lyrics to songs just for his father, and Ken Jr. says the impact is “incredible.” He hopes that continuing to connect with his father represents who his father is, and also helps others.
