Why Do All Humans Have the Same Facial Reaction to Certain Emotions?
Studies show that certain facial expressions look the same around the globe. People who have never been exposed to other cultures, and even people who are blind, make the same expressions for anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise, respectively. Even some other mammals use the same facial muscles to express emotion. In this video, scientists ponder if these expressions helped us pass along warnings to each other and enabled survival.
