Why We Should Embrace Being Wrong
Let’s be honest…it feels good to be right. When we make the right decision, we naturally enjoy the feeling that ensues. However, if we aren’t careful, over time, this enjoyment of being right can intoxicate us and affect our entire worldview. As Kathryn Schulz says in her insightful TED Talk, our “attachment to our own rightness keeps us from preventing mistakes when we absolutely need to and causes us to treat each other terribly.” Schulz also explains why accepting the notion that we could be wrong can help us ignite and maintain our sense of wonder.
