Why You Shouldn’t Struggle With Anxiety and Depression in Silence
In this heartfelt talk, multimedia producer and activist Nikki Webber Allen describes her emotional struggles and how hiding them was a terrible choice. After being diagnosed with anxiety and depression, she felt too ashamed to tell anybody and kept it a secret. Then, her beloved nephew took his own life. He, too, had been suffering in silence. Webber Allen couldn't help but wonder if being open about her mental health would have encouraged her nephew to get help. She speaks candidly about her the importance of de-stigmatizing mental health issues, especially in communities of color.
