You Can’t Be Angry and Grateful at the Same Time: This Fire Survivor Shares Life Advice
At age 24, model and engineer Turia Pitt became trapped in a grass fire while competing in an ultramarathon. After two years and 200 surgeries, she learned to walk, brush her hair and be independent again. She has gone on to compete in Iron Man events and does humanitarian work. She credits a practice of gratitude and pushing herself beyond her comfort zone with her ability to not only survive but thrive. Today, she believes that inspiring someone else to think, “Turia rebuilt her life; I can, too” is the ultimate reward.
